SPECIALTY AREA OF PRACTICE

Women's Health

Concerns related to women’s health can impact us at different times in our lives and a myriad of ways. For some women, anxiety and depression may be related to infertility and the experience of conceiving and planning for a family, or sensitivities to hormone-related concerns during the post-partum or perimenopausal phases. While other women suffer with the effects of chronic illness, PCOS or PMDD and the impact to well-being, relationships and daily life.

Some areas in my practice related to women’s health:

  • Post-partum concerns and adjusting to motherhood

  • Infertility and family planning

  • Hormone-related concerns, such as perimenopause, PCOS and PMDD

  • Medical concerns, such as cancer or a chronic health condition

In my practice, I treat generalized anxiety disorder, which is characterized by persistent worry or anxious feelings that interfere with daily life, as well as perinatal and depressive disorders, dysthymia and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Together, we’ll focus on developing tools for addressing symptoms and exploring any underlying factors. For many women, developing insight into their unique experience of anxiety and depression increases compassion and reduces suffering, improving their quality of life and connection to themselves.

Comprehensive treatment includes assessment of related concerns such as grief, unresolved trauma and relationships, as well as medical assessment, as needed. This may include referral and collaboration with your primary care physician or OB/GYN, as we identify a treatment plan to safely and compassionately address how health concerns are impacting your life.
